You can get a Taxi in Glasgow 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are over 1300 Black hackney taxis owned by Glasgow City Council and available for public use. The Hackney taxis must display the fare at all times. The average Glasgow Hackney can carry up to five people. Most taxis can be flagged down, a simple wave or a whistle is normally enough. There are designated taxi stances located in busy areas like outside Central station and Queens street station.

Minimum fare around the city centre is £2.50-3.00 and also to the Burrell collection from the city centre should cost around £6-7. Like most major cities Glasgow has many private car hire these are not run by the Glasgow City Council, price differs from each company but in general these taxis work out cheaper than the Hackney.

Taxi Top Tip
When getting a private hire taxi look for the yellow licence plate in the window and also the yellow plate at the back of the car. It is against the law to pose as a taxi driver, Do not get in a car that stops and offers a taxi ride.
