Fossil Grove Glasgow
Fossil Grove : lies within Victoria Park in the Whiteinch area of the City, and is a 350 million year old forest which was uncovered by accident during the construction of a pathway through a disused quarry at the western end of the park. It is now designated a site of Special Scientific Interest by Scottish National Heritage, and provides interpretative displays and the chance to examine geological specimens that are over 300 million years old. The site represents a corner of an ancient forest preserved in stone. Eleven fossilised tree stumps still stand where they once grew. The fossils represent a group of extinct plants known as giant clubmosses.

Fossil Grove is Glasgow's most ancient attraction.
