The Burrell Collection Glasgow
The Burrell Collection situated in Pollock Park is an experience not to be missed. The Burrell was purpose built, and opened in 1983, and was the result of an architectural competition.

In 1944, Sir William Burrell a millionaire shipowner and his wife Constance, Lady Burrell signed the Deed of Gift of their collection to the City of Glasgow. When they gifted the collection of over 9,000 works of art to Glasgow, the city acquired one of the greatest collections of art as the collection is made up of a vast array of works of all periods and from all over the world, and 3,000 of the 9,000 items available, are displayed at any one time.

The Collection was amassed over 80 years of Sir William's life and is outstanding in its wealth and diversity. Pollock House was gifted by Mrs Anne Maxwell Macdonald and her family and 360 acres of Pollok Estate to the City of Glasgow in 1967. It was agreed that this offered a wonderful setting for the Burrell Collections. The Collection is about 10 mins walk from Pollock House and there is a shuttle bus available to and from the 2 museums.

Ceramics, prints, carpets, tapestries, paintings, Oriental Arts, and Crafts.
This priceless collection has something for everyone.
